OverPayment nightmare...help!

Hi

I am brand spanking new here so please be gentle...

The situation is
I used to recieve tax credit until I moved in with my partner. I told them of my changes and they stopped paying. Then the following tax year I had a notice to pay from a overpayment that occured in 2003 to 2004, this I have paid and might I add they had all my details from my p60 for that year so they knew what my salary was. Not long after that I recieved another notice to pay for another overpayment occuring in 2004 to 2005 this I was not happy about and I appealed this by letter in Aug last year. I requested them to acknowledge this within 14 days which they didn't so in September I called them to check if they had recieved my appeal which they confirmed they did. I have always taken names of who I spoke to aswell. In my appeal I requested them send to me full copy of all documents a full calculation break down for the year 2004/2005 so I could figure out who's mistake it was.
Now nearly a year down the line a letter dated 6/6/06 comes explaining they have looked again and have come to the conclusion i have to pay it back.£1292.50!!!!
They also said I can't appeal.
I have written back to say that I have never recieved anything I requested for since last August so I could prove who's mistake this is.
They have written to me again dated 10/6/06 demanding I pay the money if I don't i face legal action.
When looking back over my rewards in 2004/2005 something does not add up

here it is..
reward dated 10 may 04 they have my salary as £18472.00
reward dated 10 may 04 they have my salary as £18472.00
reward dated 16 aug 04 they have my salary as £18472.00
reward dated 17 aug 04 they have my salary as £18472.00
reward dated 18 aug 04 they have my salary as £16090.00
reward dated 29 nov 04 they have my salary as £16090.00
reward dated 27 dec 04 they have my salary as £16090.00
reward dated 12 jan 05 they have my salary as £16090.00
reward dated 21 mar 05 they have my salary as £16090.00
reward dated 20 apr 05 they have my salary as £16090.00
reward dated 4 jul 05 they have my salary as £ 18472.00

I know i have told them when I have changed my job and if my salary has changed.
I have called the tax credit number tonight and spoken to someone who has confirmed there are no notes on my account to say they sent me anything in writting to show me where this has gone wrong , they advised to write to them because there is no number to call. Which I have written to them and sent recorded delivery yesterday.
Sorry to be so long winded I am so thrustrated with this situation anyone with any tips!!!!

Many thanks for listening..
