right i'll try not to confuse you all but this is my problem,my son wants his gamecube in his bedroom but when i went to plug the scart in it didnt work now i know the lead is working as i have used it on my tv and i know there isnt a problem with his scart in his tv as he runs a dvd player through it, i reckon it has something to do with the kind of scart that it is you see the one that works fine in his tv is all connected if you get me whilst the one i need to get to work is one with the 3 leads that you plug into a scart adapter thingymajig and then into the tv, sorry if im confusing you but i dont know what there called? any one have an idea why this wont work?

Does his TV autodetect and switch AV input? Maybe the problem is because your TV does and his doesn't. Have you tried manually selecting AV1 or AV2 on his TV.
If I understand your post correctly you have a video/audio out from the Gamecube terminating in 3 pin RCA (yellow/red/white). You have attached a 3 pin phono to scart adapter to this lead and when you plug it in your TV it works but not in your son's. Is that the gist of your problem?

yes thats right, normal scart leads i have plugged into his tv have always worked straight away so didnt think that i would have had to tune this in i just assumed anything that plugged into scart was auto detectSairz xx

It's incongruous that your son's TV is autodetecting the DVD player but not the Gamecube. From what you have described there is nothing wrong with the leads. Only thing I can think of is due to a difference in the output signals ???didnt think that i would have had to tune this in
Not a case of tuning it as such but selecting the AV input. Should either be a button on the TV or in the remote (Input Select).604!0 -
Function switching is carried on pin 8 of the scart lead, it is not available when using scart - phono adapters so you will have to select the aux input manually from the tv remote.
It might be marked as "aux" or "av" or "ext" or possibly a rectangle with an arrow pointing into it. Press this to select the input from the gamecube and press again to return to the tv (you might have to press more than once if there is more than one input)0
