Yes, the card looks like that. Instead of 4659, it's 4658 (i.e. full authorisation card) without cheque guarentee. The card is embossed.

When you apply for a Barclays Bank Account, I think they automatically default it to a Cash Card Account. This will happen if you do it in branch. Since you've done it online long time ago, it will be a straight decline.

By the way, have you got a reply about your application not being received?

    Hiya

Thanks for explaining this. So if I were to apply online now it would decline me, even though I last applied a few months back and left it (i.e. never heard anything yet)...?

Lol, that answers the other point - not heard a bean to date! ;):D

I don't think it's really worth it to chase them up about your application, which is submitted a few months ago. They will say the same thing.

If you really want the Barclays account, go into branch, and open it. I remember you said you live very far away from the branch. It will be worth it in the end, as you will get the account opened on the day, with account details.

Alternatively, you could try applying online again, and hopefully, they will receive your application. If you do that, call them up and check if they have received it.

Looking at the Barclays website, the card shown looks embossed and not electronic - unless it is my eyes (at such an early hour!):

    debit_card_150x97.gif

However, the card is shown when I visited Basic Account - unless they just show the main Connect card....

Can you confirm whether the above looking card is a full auth card (electronic) or the non authorisation one (i.e. cheque card whatever)...?

Also, anyone know if when you apply for a Barclays Bank Account, if you don't meet the scoring criteria do they just decline you (if unsuccessful) or do they downgrade you to a CardCash account? Cheers...

Visa Electronic cards are embosed and full auth no CQ available :D

I think theres a difference in the BIN numbers for full auth and normal.
