Totally hacked off with ING

I closed my account over the telephone and was told the money would be in my linked account in three days. Some time later when I checked my account, I discovered the money was not there. I phoned ING and they confirmed my account with them was closed, but could not understand where my money had gone!! They discovered that the employee who had closed my account had transposed my sort code and account number and my money had been hovering somewhere in cyberspace. Only after I kicked up did they agree to CHAPS the money in. I reminded them that that I had lost interest on this money (large sum), and they said they would compensate me. Four weeks later I received a letter stating that they would complete their investigation with the NEXT four weeks.

I telephoned them advising that there was nothing to investigate. They had already admitted their cockup and all I wanted was to be compensated for my losses. ING reiterated that I will receive a response within the next four weeks. They don't seem to grasp that I am now losing interest on interest. I'm fuming. I know mistakes happen, but how dare they make me suffer financially for their incompetence?
