Hello all
would like some advice if possible......as totally confused and basically at my wits end.
HSBC;I am currently about £800.00 overdrawn with the HSBC...£600.00 of that being £150.00 monthly charges.
I had been off work ill,and had be subject to a vastly reduced income.when i got a job(as had to leave the other) did not get paid for 6 weeks,as soon as i got this new job my creditors were requiring catch up payments..so was ending up with very little money at the end of each month.
In august i happened to go over drawn(no not for shoes or any other luxury items) and the bank charged me £150.00.
This meant that i could not pay my mortgage...so in complete panic spoke to the CCCS and they felt that due to my circumstances that i was in financial hardship.
I wrote to my bank following advice and explained my circumstance, and had to change my bank account as the bank informed me that they would be charging me another £150.00.
I followed all the steps for reclaiming and sent all the documentation from CCCS and basicially the bank have just sent letters regarding the test case etc.
basically i have been informing them of my situation by letter for 4 months, and they have not offered any help just continued charges. At the beggining of october i lost my job,and again informed them of this.
I am not sure how i am going to pay these charges back,as i am on benefits,a position i have never been in before, and am frantically trying to get a job.
I think it unfair that they continue to apply these charges as i worked hard to try to catch up on the payments i fell behind on when i was off ill.
I have struggled with finance for quite some time and can see light at the end of the tunnel.
I am unsure of what to do,as it is I am sitting without heating/lighting and doing without food to try and pay things off which on benefits is quite some task.
I am living on £12.00 a week and am unsure how i can make payments in light of thses bank charges.
Capital one
Have recieved an offer from capital one regarding reclaiming charges, and as a gesture of good will they have offered less than a quarter of the original request....what do i do next?
I am in a terrible financial situation...and i have never used my credit card other than to pay bills which i have been unable to afford.
I know a lot of people are in the same situation...and it is easy for people to make judgements...i had always previously managed my finances prior to a change in personal circumstance.
Any advice greatfully recieved.

Hey, I'm no expert and in a very similar position to yourself. If you read through some of the other threads in relation to Cap One you'll see that some people have had success by calling their bluff: phoning them and strongly emphasing the vast difference between what you're owed and what you've been offered - you been using Martin's templates yeah? I'm also trying to claim back charges from them and so far have been ignored, waiting on a reply from threatening court action.
I've also found the CAB really helpful, there's no way you should be basically starving yourself in order to pay debt, but I also know that's easier said that done, because food is always the last thing on the priority list, been there. I'm so sorry I can't be of more help and wish you all the very best. Sometimes it helps a wee bit to know you're not alone and it's not your fault.

Thank you Hanging on in there.
Have been a observer of this forum for quite sometime before posting and was expecting to be lambasted...sometimes a few words of support can be a tremendous help and i apreciate your message.
Good luck to you x

Hey again, just thought i'd let you know that today i got an offer letter of £399 from Cap One (original claim over £2,000). Am so tempted just to take it as it would help out a lot just now, but after consideration, and support from the website, I'm going to write to them saying that I would accept this as a part payment and again demand the rest - i'm not a greedy person, just very, very angry at the whole banking attitude and outcome.
Really am hanging on in there, hope you do too!
Good luck my friend
