I find swarfega very good for removing oil from clothing, rub it ino cloth and leave for 10 mins then wash at the highest temp the fabric can take, this should remove it. Jane

I pressed the oily side onto kitchen towel and rubbed the reverse with warm water and fairy liquid. I kept moving the stain onto different parts of the kitchen towel until no more oil appeared on the towel. I then rubbed the rest off on the stained side of the material. This removed the stain! I then put it through the wash and you can't see oil any more! Thanks everyone! :T

I now have another problem! One of my daughters left a pen in the wash and I now have an ink mark on a vest! Ive repeated the above and have also soaked in milk. I don't think its going to remove the stain as well as it removed the oil though!

    Hello moneysavers!

I managed to get baby oil on one of my tops last night and despite instantly putting vanish stain remover spray on it and washing it the mark's still there and really noticeable. Any ideas on what I can do to remove it? The top's a lycra-ish material, a smart work one if that makes a difference.

Any advice would be very much appreciated!

Ive heard for oily things you need to soak it up so maybe using some talc. Im not sure whether washing will have meant you cant remove it as easy though

    Hi Ianna,

If you rub a small blob of washing up liquid into the stain and wash as normal it should disappear.

We have an older thread on this somewhere, when I find it I'll merge your thread with it to keep all the suggestions together.

Rub the stain with something like washing-up liquid or Stardrops before washing?
