Me and my partner were unemployed and claiming joint claim JSA. I then got a temporary job for 2 months my other half's claim then went to a single claim. After the work ended I reapplied for JSA as a rapid reclaim, I was told that I should get a letter confirming our claim had gone back to a joint claim within 2 weeks, payment should then come through not long after.
5 weeks later, no letter and we are still bothing having to survive on my partners single claim. I phoned the payments line and was told the letter was on its way. A few days later, no sign of the letter or money so I phoned again. They said they would get someone to phone me back and suprise suprise no one has! I thought that the people in the jobs centre were bad enough (that is a different story) but the people processing the payments are far more incompetetant!

Would you like any help with your entitlement, or did you just want to be offensive towards JCP staff?
    Gone ... or have I?

I would like help and I have never been offensive to job centre plus staff ever. I have worked in customer support I know how horrible it is when you get sworn at ect hence why I am always polite to them both in person and on the phone. I am however extremely frustrated by the fact that I have to wait so long for any money.
I have also been hung up on when phoning the payments line when I phoned to enquire why I had not been paid. Again I was not rude to the member of staff I was polite and did not kick off or make a deal out of this when I phoned back. I am just so annoyed that no one seems to know why the application for a joint claim has not been processed and no one phones me back when they promise they will.

I'll try not be offensive, but I recall them being script-reading automatons. Any questions "not on the list", and they were up the creek without a paddle.

Look in my experience of my local job centre they are not very helpful in the slightest, it is my own experience of the service sorry if no one else agrees!
Any advice on what I can do next to actually get somewhere with our claim becoming a joint claim. Phoning them gets me absolutely no where, I just get fobbed off telling me that the confirmation letter is on its way. Then they tell me its not been processed it and that someone will phone me back later that day then no one does. 2 people living on £64 a week with bills coming in is not easy.

Ask to see the JCP manager. Be prepared to be told that he/she is in a meeting. (they seem to spend most of the day in their ivory towers). I'm afraid that unless you are persistent, you will continue to be fobbed off, even lied to. JCP employees are not the sharpest tools in the box - makes you wonder how THEY get jobs...or does it?

    You're not helping.

I sincerely hope you never need help on here because I'm sure any JCP staff would think twice.

OP, phone the BDC and speak to a superviser. If you get nowhere you could always involve your MP.

I speak purely from personal, past experience. If JCP employees are capable of being helpful on these forums, why do so many turn into little Hitlers in the workplace? I know they don't get paid a lot, but that's no excuse for the obstructive way they conduct themselves.

With respect can you take this to the discussion page.
