Hi Everyone
I had a positive pregnancy test today
:D:D, I used the clear blue digital test which said I am 3+ weeks gone.
This may be a silly question but I was wondering when do I need make an appointment to see my doctor? I can't seem to find any information about when to go?
Thanks in advance

At my local surgery you just phone and the receptionist leaves a note for the midwife who then phones to arrange a "booking in" appointment. Unless you have complications, there are actually very few appointments while you are pregnant.

I went to see my GP at the drop in clinic as soon as I could (mainly because I didn't know what to do either!) She gave me a book, filled in my prescription exemption form and did the paperwork so that I would get called for my scan/booking at the necessary time. Then I didn't hear anything until a week or two ago when I got the notification for my 12 week scan/booking.0

well - you phone your GPs surgery and ask for appointment - with a bit of luck you will get one before the baby is born!!! seriously - phone now (tomorrow i mean) and tell receptionist you had positive pregnancy test and would like to see the GP.
I assume you are a first time mum? oh dear i forgot to say CONGRATULATIONS!!!
the gp or midwife will prob want to take blood to check all is well with you - and whether you need iron etc - so the sooner the better.
also - the hospital or midwife will need to be booked etc and there are a thousand and one things to do - so the sooner you start the better!
congrats again hun - I hope you sail through pregnancy and birth - such an exciting time for you.0 -
Agree with others! GPs have different protocols but when pregnancy is confirmed you should contact them ASAP. Tell the receptionist and they will either book an appt with the GP or ask you to fill in a form with the midwife.
Good luck with the rest of your pregnancy
.... oh and congratulations!!!0 -

Congratulations.
Phone the docs anytime from now until 10 weeks.
People say to take folic acid but thats up to you if you take it in synthetic form or not. I perfer the natural choices.0 -

I called my doctors and told reception i just found out i was pregnant and i asked who i make an appointment with. She told me to call back when im over 7 weeks for an appointment with doctor. At my first appointment the doctor just took my BP and gave me a tone of paperwork on food not to eat etc etc. Then the midwife came to my home a week later and i had my booking in visit. Where she went through a book of questions with me.
Good luck! Hope you have a happy healthy pregnancy
