Income Support & JSA

Hi,
Someone I know has a pregnant partner. He is on JSA Income-based and he has been claiming for over 6 months. As far as I know, he has to close his claim to get a joint claim on Income Support. Is my understanding correct or can his partner claim for IS without him losing his entitlement to JSA? Thanks.

She cannot claim income support unless she is sick, disabled or a single parent0

Thanks Karen, I'll look into it further; that's what I thought but someone at the JCP told me something on the contrary.0
