Equifax addess problems

I recently applied for my credit file from Equifax by post. It was fine but it didn't show me as being on the electoral register for my current address (I have recently moved). So I wrote back with confirmation and asked them to update my file. They wrote back saying that I was showing on the register, however when I accessed my file online it showed that I wasn't confirmed at this address.
I rang their call centre and they said that the reason it didn't show it was because of a variation in the address. I put my address as 79 however the council put me down as 79A. This is technically correct, however I didn't know this as my tenancy agreement just has my address down as 79. Anyway I didn't query it as Experian have me listed as being at 79A on my credit file, regardless of the fact that I applied for my file using just 79. Equifax however will not do the same.
It wouldn't bother me however I am planining on geting a Barclaycard and experience suggest they will search Equifax and I'd prefer them to as there are no searches on my Equifax file. What should I do? Should I apply to Barclaycard using 79A and will all my other accounts show up on my file?

I have had problems with both the big two CRA's, I moved a few months ago, the local authority have told them and given my new address but they refuse to alter the files they have on me, the reason they give is that they want confirmation in a letter from the local authority, who will not give it, they say they already have done their part, catch 22Aiming to be debt free....but still off target0 -
I sent Equifax the letter from the local authority. Experian have used common sense and have put the slightly different address on my file, whereas Equifax haven't. It's so frustrating.0

I had a similar problem with Experian, they fixed it by putting my address variations on my file as 'linked addresses' (with my previous addresses), this gathered all the information together. They did this during my free 30 day online trial, so it was their 'online' helpline that fixed it.
I realise it seems a bit over the top, but if they really won't add your address variations by phone/letter why not sign up for the online free trial and utilise their altogether (in my experience) more helpful online helpline?
I understand your frustration!
Good luck.
Have you applied for your credit file using each variation so you can see what Barlaycard will see depending on the address you give them?
Also, I'm pretty sure Barclaycard searched both Equifax and Experian when I applied a couple of years ago.0
