Plumbing question

Is the plumbing for a dishwasher exactly the same as for a washing machine?

We need to put our wash machine where previous owner had a dishwasher. Will we need to adapt plumbing? There is cold water feed and some sort of ridged pipe under sink.

Thanks

Usually yes. They both have a cold feed (older washing machines had a hot one too) and a waste pipe which is the corrugated one.

If your machine has a hot and cold intake then you will need to either get a hot connection plumbed in or use a Y piece to connect both hot and cold water hoses. If you use a Y piece then your machine will heat its own water, a hot supply will use water from your hot water tank or combi boilers supply.

In my 30 yrs in the trade I have never seen a domestic dishwasher with a hot fill, they are normally direct from the cold main but we live and learn
