How can you tell the amount of gas you are using?

Ok i have took a reading of the number's on my pre-payment meter and it's moved less than 1 so i am guessing that's the incorrect number.

Recently i have noticed that i am using so much gas as it ran out last night i decided that i would put 2 pound on and monitor it's useage.

So the radiator's have been on overall 3 hour's max and the gas cooker was on for 10 minute's and i have used £1.04 is this correct i have a 2 bedroom house with 6 radiator's.

Does this sound like the right useage?

Many thank's.

It depends how much you are paying per cubic metre of gas. I would expect £2 to give you about 50 cubic metres of gas.

  • So i am guessing per 0.10 is 1 kWh?

That is surely incorrect then as at max Gas 7.350p x 9 = 66.15p or am i getting this all wrong?

You used 0.8 cubic M of gas. Times that by 11.2 to get an approximate kWh figure of 9kWh. So 9kWh times either your primary rate or if you have used enough units, times your secondary rate.

  • Thank's again for explaining how to work it out understand that now.

Then i have used 1.04 divided buy 9 would be meaning i am paying 11.5p instead of the quoted 7.3p?
  • Does anyone know if this is correct sorry for trying to find out quickly just was going to give EDF a ring to find out what's going on and they close in 30 mins.

Also is they anyway i can check on my meter where it says what kWh i am being charged?

    Many thank's.
  • Ok i noticed that my meter read's in cubic feet and not cubic metre's.

How do i work that out lol?
