Power Seller Confusion

I've had an email from ebay (?) inviting me to become a Power Seller.

The email mentions my full real name and I understood that was one way of telling it was a genuine ebay email. However, my ebay messages don't contain this power seller invitation.

Yes, I've seen this, well, messages from PayPal which use your real name. Just a little bit scary isn't it!?

Generally if it's not in my eBay inbox (My eBay) then I don't even read it.

Change your password.

I can imagine I'm every marketing departments nightmare, as only mail I want is filtered through, everything else stays in the main inbox. Kind of operating a spam filter in reverse, I don't specify what I don't want, I specify what I do.

and try the member sign in, if the email is genuine it will let you proceed to sign up if not it'll say "what are you doing here?"

(kidding it will just say you don't qualify or something to that effect).

I had one of these a few months ago. Tried to forward it to spoof@ebay.co.uk but wouldn't let me.

I can't remember what the various qualifications are, I do remember getting an email invite too a few months ago - and I'm on the silver powerseller level.

If i remember correctly I had to apply from the link in the powerseller invite email ( I know we all warn against clicking links from emails!) but this email had my name so I wasn't so concerned and it was genuine.

When I got my power seller invite it also wasn't in my ebay messages. I actually emailed them and complained...but they just sent me back a standard email saying thank you for your concerns etc...

To qualify for the lowest powerseller rating you need turnover of £750 per month taken on a 3 month average, plus, I think 100 sales a month.

Ahem.......big fanfare........I am now a POWERSELLER!!

I checked the link via my ebay tool bar (I'm ashamed to say I forget to use it) and it was all ok and I now have the power seller logo next to my user name.

I don't think I'll qualify for long though, I've been selling some stuff for a friend so my sales have been good recently but will soon return to "normal".
