Yeeeeeeees...i know...I checked Ebuyer, Dabs and Aria before posting to make sure this was actually a bargain. Why are you posting a link to the same product for an extra £23???He huihuinga taangata he pukenga whakaaro – A meeting of people; a wellspring of ideas (Maori proverb)0

Just be aware that the cache on this is only 2mb which is small, 8mb is the accepted norm now really, also that your pc may not recognise a hd above 137gb!Waddle you do eh?0

your pc may not recognise a hd above 137gb!
What determines whether a motherboard/operating system recognises a drive above 137Gb, please?
Also, does anyone know if these high capacity drives are far more prone to total failure than more moderate capacities, like 80Gb? Losing, say, 5% of the capacity due to bad sectors wouldn't be too bad, but is the whole drive a bit risky?
Regards

Certainly 98 and higher (98 requires a patch) support >137Gb.
The motherboard BIOS must also support >137Gb HD's so you might need to update the BIOS.Hug provider for depression thread :grouphug:

Do Aldi limit these to 1 per customer? This deal could be very interesting!Nice to Save. To save it's ____0

I think i paid around £80 12 months ago for my WD 80GB although it does have a 8 MB cache and it's been a great drive with no problems at all.
So if you need 250 GB then this seems a good deal.0
