can't connect to the internet----

---which is a wired connection, 2 wireless laptops are working fine.

I have tried repairing the connection
restarted computer 3 times
checked wires are all in place, changed ports

not sure what else to check, it is usually 100% okay.
Any ideas?
thanks:confused:
