I have been selling things on ebay and ebid for a while but refuse to accept credit cards through paypal due to the costs. Has anybody said they will accept pppay.com on ebay and used it? The advantage to sellers, is that it transfers the cost of using a credit card to tbe buyer which is why I refuse to accept paypal.

I've never used pppay.com but then I've never heard of it either.
I found that when I started accepting paypal my finishing prices increased as more bidders were willing to 'play'. I also sell oveseas so paypal was a real necessity for me.
I did try nochex for a while but it limited me to UK buyers and wasn't really a lot cheaper than paypal.
When I'm buying I tend to favour sellers that accept paypal just because it is quicker for me.

If you force buyers to pay the cost of using credit cards then they will simply go elsewhere. I don't think that Paypal has particularly extortionate fees given that it's so convenient for sellers.
Think about if from the buyers point of view - if you went into Tesco and paid for your shopping with a card, what would you say if they charged you their transaction fee?
Buyers expect sellers to absorb the cost of these fees in the shops and I don't think EBay is any different.0 -
These are valid points along with the one that people recognise paypal and trust it more than other companies! People are very careful, especially when it comes to their money.

Ever tried using Eggpay?
It's another option for you (I use it).0 -
Eggpay would seem to be the best option for debit cards as it is free, but how widely is it known on ebay? It is the first time that I have heard of it.

Choice of payment is, of course, the sellers perogative, BUT...
In the real world, how would you feel if Tesco refused your CC because they have to pay a fee? Credit Card fees are just a cost of business and (imo) should be factored into your costs.
While it's not legitimate, many people build a little into the shipping and handling cost to cover this :-/Life should be a little nuts; otherwise it's just a bunch of Thursdays strung together.0 -
Nochex
Have you also considered using Nochex?
PS - I thought that a similar company to EggPay had closed down.
What is the website for EggPay ?[ Eat, Drink and be Merry - for tomorrow we get the bill ]0 -
