I have just been advised by ovo that the hours relevant to economy 7 are-10.30 pm to 12.30 am and 2.30 am to 7.30 am.I am in the east midlands and wonder how they manage to get up here to alter the meter for two hours every night!

Well if Santa can get to every childs house in the world in just 1 night, a few houses in the East Midlands in a couple of hours should be a breeze

New to me when I was on economy 7, in the east Midlands, the hours were 1am to 8am.
The meter rate is usually controller by a radio Teleswitch, very old systems had a mechanical clock.
I suspect OVO don't know what they are taking about. That gum you like is coming back in style.0 -

I can confirm that the official E7 times in the East Mids are 1am to 8 am. These are the times that meters change if controlled by a radio signal (sent via Radio 4 I believe).
If you have an older meter with a mechanical timeswitch it will depend on how accurate the time is but the contacts should still be set to 1am and 8am.0 -
Radio or Clock switched has nothing to do with the age of the meter. Teleswitches are used when suppliers/distrubtors want to be able to change the times remotely. You will not find all E7 are on the same times, simple reason is if every house in say Brum had there heating cut in at the same time the surge on the network would be massive. Hence the times vary.notbritishgas wrote: »I can confirm that the official E7 times in the East Mids are 1am to 8 am.
