Parking brake problems I wouldn't say are "major" but they do render the car unroadworthy so aren't exactly minor either... Alarms are a PITA and I'm glad I don't own a car with one.

Is the Alarm protected by it's own fuse in the fuse box? If so, remove the fuse.
This won't be an option if the alarm and central locking system are both protected by the same fuse."You were only supposed to blow the bl**dy doors off!!"0
