Photo Printing - Boots - Online or what

For the first time I printed some shots, from my brand new camera, this morning, at Boots. It was one of the instant machines but the assistant, who was near me, said the 1 hour or longer times were printed round the back on better printers with better results.
Then a girl nearby said she only used the instant machines in emergencys, for her business, but usually bought online and the results online were not just better but substantially better. She looked at some of my shots and said online they would look less drab and colours were more vibrant. Great advice and she wrote down the online company and I have lost that bit of paper.
Anyone elses experiences or tips on where to go would be good.

I actually think Boot's instant printers do a very nice job
The place i usually go to for important photos is Happy Snaps (paddington)
If you buy amature photographer, it has adverts for the online firms that professional photographers use
I'd be interested to know what the best quality online photo printing service is also..0 -

From the video:
Not good enough:
Colourama - too washed out
Kodak - too much contrast
Jessops/Aldi - poor colour representation
Best remaining:
Photobox
Tesco
Snapfish - Best for price and quality
Peakimaging
One vision - Best quality (most expensive)
Makes me want to try snapfish now, i've got 13,000 digital photos and very few of them printed0 -

The quality from professional running Gretags is much more consistent than what you get from "mini lab equipment". The website I use is FotoInsight.0 -
Thanks for good link isofa.
ringo let us know if and when you try them.
My wife reminded me we have used photobox and at that time, two years ago, I did say I was very impressed. She has a much better memory than me as I have found old emails from two years ago and she is right.0 -
I've always been impressed by Photobox too.Stompa0

Photobox has been my choice for several years now. Photos, enlargements, calendars and photo books.
All have been excellent quality.
If you get your photos uploaded early in the day, there's a good chance they'll fall through your door next morning. Photobooks, calenders and the like obviously take longer.Dave. :wave:0 -
I have used Snapfish a few times in the past. The last time I used them I was really disappointed with the quality of the prints. The colour seemed really lack-lustre.0
