Thanks, we have insulation, I have looked at the boiler pressure and it's under 1 bar, so I think we need more pressure in the boiler and also to bleed the upstairs rads. Hopefully that will cure it :)

Regardless of what people say, i have mine on 24/7 and its only a few pounds extra a month.

Now the important thing to understand is, yes it is (slightly) more expensive, for me, because, i have a really well insulated home. Loft, walls, doors and windows are all covered. Drafts to a minimum and my rads are well maintained and balanced.

For a house, like our friends thats an old build, would burn tonnes of gas @ 24/7. 18 is warm in our house. The equivalent in theirs is about 24. With their high ceilings and drafty hallway.

If you want to compare yourself. Read the meter and put it on timed for 1 week then read again and work out the difference. Then run for 1 week at 24/7 hoping that the average temp's each day are similar (to be as fair as possible for the test) and then read the meter after a week.

Then you will see which has used more gas.

Now i can garuntee 24/7 will use more but by how much allows you to determine whether it is worth it.

As i said, for us, it was. An extra few quid to have the house always warm. But this year we turn it down to 16 at some points to save a little.
