MBNA PPI Query

Hi, hope you can help with this one..
I've recently been successful in getting a payment from MBNA re: my recent PPI claim against the payments applied to my credit card. However, they stated in their letter to me that the PPC was applied to my account in 2001. They deposited £450 in my card account but by my reckoning they should owe me about £750. They stated in the letter that:
"..as a gesture of goodwill, I have arranged for an immediate refund of the premiums charged to your account since you requested the insurance. A total of £450.00 will be refunded".
I've just got a couple of questions about this and wondered what my next step should be:
If they don't like the fact that I'm questioning the amount, can they take back this goodwill payment? (Stupid question maybe, but the banks have taought me to be extremely paranoid..!)
Similarly, as I have already "dipped into" my card account and already effectively spent a small amount of this goodwill payment, could this be classed as an acceptance from me that I think the £450.00 figure is acceptable?
It may well be that my maths is a bit shonky and I've got the figures wrong, (after all, they said in the letter that they are "refunding the premiums charged to my account since I requested the insurance") but if I do contact them, I was thinking of saying something like:
"I've taken advice and I don't feel that the figure of £450.00 is representative of the amount I paid as PPI and I would like it looking at again"
Does this sound generally OK, or should I just take the money I've already been given and run?
And finally, if I do contact them, is it better to ring them directly or put everything in writing?
Sorry about the mass of questions, but I've never gone through this before so if anybody could give me some advice, I'd be extremely grateful!
Cheers..

Hi there
Yes write to them anyway and see what they come back with.
Also ask them to send you a full detailed written breakdown the same time.
Not actually sure what happens if you have actually dipped into the account.
Hopefully someone here will post up on this for you with their opinions on this.
But no harm in writing to them and tell them since receiving the amount into your account you since received some advice, and feel you have been short changed - something along those lines, with them also providing you with a breakdown in details should also enclose more details for you.
Good luck with this, please keep us posted.;)The one and only "Dizzy Di"
