Monsoon voucher nightmare

I used a voucher (after seeing Martin's email) to buy some items on-line, the discount code was accepted and the summary screen showed the 25% coming off. I then put in my credit card details and the final screen had removed the discount!

This is unbelievable.

I contacted customer services and they have said I need to take the items into the store, with the voucher and they will refund the items - so long as they haven't been worn!

Then I can buy them again with the discount voucher. Why should I do this, its unbelievable that they tell me I am paying £77 then take £100 and I have to drive several miles to sort out the problem.

Please be very wary of this disgraceful practice.

Advice gratefully accepted.

There may have been an error when processing your order andto save on postage costs again its easier to take into a store to get the discount back..

I dont know really just thought i would reply with something as you sound a bit needy

    I'm confused .,...

If you bought something on-line & you entered a discount code & then it was removed, why go into a store - you bought on-line - it should be dealt with online - unless the voucher was not valid ...??

I would not drive anywhere, I wait till I get the items & then reject under DSR ... within 7 days ... or cancel the order now ...

  • completely agree with Mark above - call them and confirm by email that you will be refusing delivery of the goods and don't accept them from the courier. If it's an online problem I certainly wouldn't be venturing into a store at your inconvenience to sort it out. Presumably if you had wanted to shop instore you would have done so in the first place.

May also be worth checking out if you can do a chargeback on your card - ring your credit card company and explain that the amount Monsoon have charged does not match what you agreed to pay. I'm not sure what their response will be but it may be worth a try - sounds like a highly dodgy practice - after all every company could do the same if they liked - smacks of falsely advertising discounts.

  • This happened to me with Miss selfridge online. I emailed to say my discount had nor been applied and that as is this was the case, I'd prefer to cancel the order. I included details of the discount code I'd used. They refunded the discount amount which is what Monsoon should have done. It's easy for them to action this so why make it difficult for you, the customer?

25% is a big difference, so I'd say as others have said, if they won't refund your card: refuse delivery.

    Good luck

  • I have also had problems with the 25% voucher at Monsoon. My 3 year old had set her heart on some fingerless gloves (as she is a terrible thumb-sucker), which I ordered along with a few other items. The gloves and another item had holes in, so I sent them back for an exchange. However, they sent me a refund and told me that I would have to re-order- without the 25% off. I cannot understand why they a) cannot exchange items (especially if faulty) and b) cannot issue individual discount codes for situations such as ours. It is my opinion that they are over-priced anyway, so I would not normally dream of paying their normal prices, but 25% is much more realistic. Why should I be penalised for their faulty goods?
