I had electricity key meter last year, and company wants to charge me £57.. for what?

When I moved in (2007) I had a key meter for my electricity up to last year November.
Last year I changed suppliers couple times,,,
And one of the company keeps sending me letters asking to pay outstanding £57.. also start comming letters from debt collectors .etc
As I had the key meter I was topping up my key every time I need electricity. so i payed for my electricity.
I spoken to my that company , I was told that the next supplier after them do not communicate with them so they can not settle this up between each other...
I do not know what to do....

Each supplier will send you a new key, if you use the wrong key the money goes to the wrong the supplier and therefore you owe your current supplier money.

I do not remember which key I used, ussualy always start ussing the new key when I need to top up, I do not have a recepts.
In case I used the wrong one means other company owes me?
is there anything I could do to solve not paying the money?
is is not my problem is componies do not deal with each other

The existing supplier should be able to make a misdirected payments claim to the previous supplier if you have paid the wrong supplier.

However, I'm sure sure if this can be done if the creditor is no longer your current supplier

or maybe whn I switched I had enough money on the meter until the next time I was switching the supplier
