After being on JSA for 3 months, I was amazed to get a form to complete for help with mortgage interest. Apparently the rules have now changed so you are now eligible on contribution based JSA - previously it was just income based JSA.
But was just wondering if anyone knows how they work out how much you get? I've not managed to find any examples online.

You are entitled whilst on CB JSA if you have an underlying entitlement to IB JSA. This will take into account capital and household income.

They pay the interest as detailed by dmg,but if the mortgage is in joint names but the other person is working you can only get half of the interest if that makes sense. My ex is still on the mortgage-I have no way of buying him out whilst on benefit,so they pay just my half of the interest. As we have a repayment mortgage,I have to put the rest myself,as I don't want to change to interest only.
Tomorrow is always fresh, with no mistakes in it!

That would only be the case if the two people did not live together. If they did live together, the other person's income would be taken into account when making an SMI award.
