In August 2009 i purchased a Shower Enclosure from an online store with my credit card.
Parts of the enclosure started to rust in 45 days so the online store agreed to send out a new part and than pay for the £55 + VAT for the plumbers time to replace them.
They asked for an invoice. The company that carried out the work on the enclosure sent them an invoice with payment details. The online store acknowledged the invoice.
In the mean time i had my credit card number changed twice due to to fraud and finally told the credit card company that i do not want a card any more.
Now the online company says that they only wish to refund to the card i originally paid with and refuse to understand that a credit card does not exists.
So far they have refused to refund:
1) Via cheque
2) Via postal order
3) cash via special delivery
4) Pay directly to the company that carried out the work to replace the parts who invoiced them the £55 + VAT.
5) Refuse to credit to the original card account and not the number - according to my credit card supplier if a card number is changed or a card is no longer present as long a refund goes to the card account as opposed to the card number it will end up in the new card number or as a cheque back to me.
What option to i legally have. I have no credit card any more and hence they refuse to refund. Although this is not a refund but works carried out to replace a faulty part within the enclosure.

They can still refund it to the card as the account will still exist on the banks system. You then ask the bank to return the money to you.0

Thank you for your qucikl reply.
This is exactly what i told them, but they refusing saying the card number was rejected. I already told them that the card number would be rejected but that they should refund to the card account at the bank as opposed to the actual card number. They refuse to budge.
Do you know the actual legal term for such a refund or the process where i can point them to?0 -
