Transfer of tax?

Options
I'm a few days off my 60th birthday:beer:, unemployed  and with very little chance of gaining employment before I retire.
What are the pros and cons of transfering my tax allowance to my wife (who is a mere stripling at 54 ish) and is it possible. Where can I find easily understood facts on this subject? Thanks in advance Cheers, Tony.

No, you cannot transfer your personal tax allowance to your wife. Its a personal allowance to you.
If there are family savings on which tax is paid, it might be beneficial to transfer these into your name (assuming the wife trusts you) in order to make use of your personal allowance.
