A diamond has fallen out of my wedding ring!

I have a diamond set wedding ring bought from Ernest Jones at the end of September - however we only got married 3 weeks ago but I have just noticed one of the small diamonds has fallen out and I can't find it anywhere! I've been so careful to take it off when cleaning or showering so I just can't believe it! Do I have any rights? Can I say its not fit for purpose and get it repaired?
Thank you in advance for any advice!

You should be able to get it repaired, have you got the receipt? Did you pay for a warranty?
I had the same problem, lost a stone from my engagement ring and Ernest Jones repaired it no problem, free of charge as it was a couple of years old but we had a warranty on it.
But seeing as your ring is only a couple of months old and has only had three weeks wear, they should repair it as long as you take the receipt with you.0 -
From what i heard this typically happens when rings are re-sized (downwards) and the "claw" becomes slightly open - allowing the stone to work itself free.
If you've had that done i would assume the work would come with a certain level of guarantee that means they should replace the stone for free.0 -
having worked for a jewellers, my advice would be go back to ernest jones, as alleycat says yes sometimes the stones can fall out that way. IF Ernest Jones resized it for you then they should repair itbut it all depends on how the stone has fallen out. sometimes the claws can catch as your putting your arms through jumpers without much notice, have a look at the claws, is one protruding out more than any others? if thats the case then its probably been caught. if it hasnt been resized or any accidental damage done then they shouldnt object to repairing it free of charge, (i doubt you'd want a replacement?)
hope this helps, & sorry for waffling! Can you see the mountains through the fog?0 -
