I'm new to this so sorry if its been mentioned but who hates building xmas toy's? I have recently split up from my husband and if he hadn't visited on xmas day the toy's would have had to stay in their boxes, i bought my son the hotwheels t-rex and the instructions were so confusing i wouldn't of had a clue, it took my husband 1 and a half hours to build it (after lots of choice words) merry xmas.
Thought xmas day was supposed to be enjoyable!!
To add to it went to mum and dad's in the afternoon and they had bought him the matchbox Cyber, i did find it amusing after a few lagers watching my dad attempt to build this one (this took a good 2 hours) Then demolishing everything battery operated in the house to find the right batteries!!!
next year it's going to be cd's and dvd's
::)

This is one of my pet hates to, little miss divadee had some peter pan playsets each one took about 2 hours to do, and then all the waste packaging that goes with it.
Also even the game 'guess who' needs assembly nownever did when i was a child, that took about 30 mins to set up as you had to press out all the cards and then all the plastic bits you had to press out and then take these annoying little things of the top that didnt come off when pressed out >:(
Im so glad mr divadee is good at these things as like you i would not have been able to build the peter pan things0 -
What about Barbie and Bratz dolls. They even sew their hair into the packaging. I think there should be a campaign against excess packaging. Manufacturers are creating so much waste that is non recyclable.

ROBOSAPIEN
Took nearly an hour to get out of the *##*# box, on xmas morn, with 3 other kids waiting for their plastic welded, thermo sealed, 30 second wonder - type toys to be spilled onto the floor...the north will rise again...0 -
So it's not just me then! I had Robosapien AND Bratz to deal with on Xmas day... I couldn't actually get the Robosapien out of the box without ripping it apart - too bad if it had had to be returned to the shop. And as for things that are heat sealed into that really tough sharp plastic that you can only open by attacking with very sharp scissors... grrrrr!!
There's a lot to be said for gift tokensIf I hadn't seen such riches, I could live with being poor...0 -
Then there's the hunt for tiny screwdrivers for putting the batteries in the damn things!!!! luckily got 2 sets in xmas crackers (something useful for a change)They call me Mr Pig!0

;D Sorry, I expect I shouldn't laugh being new an all.
We upacked Robo a few days before then just put him back loosely in the box, minus all the tape and ties.
Much easier come Xmas Day. ;D (Feels smug.) ;D0 -

my dad had that same problem with robosapien, i saw the problem and left him to it, but he in the end had to cut the box to pieces and me being helpful kept on saying, i hope that doesnt have to be returned ;D0 -
we usually unwrap, set up, and put batteries in everything before wrapping the presents.
not this year....i got lazy, and one night just wrapped the lot. i bought shed loads of batteries though so we'd have enough.
back to the old method next year.........3 boys from 2 to 8 years old - you can imagine the scene for yourselves ;D*** Friends are angels who lift us to our feet when our wings have trouble remembering how to fly ***
If I don't reply to you, I haven't looked back at the thread.....PM me0 -
