Some businesses don't allow their employees to accept personal deliveries.0

i know this is supposed to be a vent , but if any of you get the chance to optionise the delivery firm when you shop , always go for dpd , now they have ETA's for ever driver and its down the the second! im good friends with several drivers and its very very precise but whats different is now depending if the merchant you buy from does it , the system sends a text message and email to you telling when your parcel is being delivered alot better than city link etc:jEmpire Stores - [STRIKE]2400[/STRIKE] - [STRIKE]1900[/STRIKE] - [STRIKE]1230[/STRIKE] - [STRIKE]780 [/STRIKE]
 Natwest Fighting Back for 450 in charges
 Three - [STRIKE]150[/STRIKE] x !!!!!! ALL GONE !

The standard option is free.
It could be delivered Monday to Friday between 7.30am and 7.30pm.
DPD says, unhelpfully, that it cannot offer a more specific time than this gaping 12-hour window. Unless you pay.
Which brings us to the upgrade option. The customer could have it delivered before 10am on a weekday, or on a Saturday morning, at a cost of £11.75.
So if you work on weekdays you have no choice but to pay a huge charge to get hold of your own property.0 -

I agree. I've bought a couple of items online in the last month which were delivered by DPD and this service is excellent and incredibly helpful. Well done DPD.0 -
Very few major companies use DPD. Because they are absolutely rubbish.0

Thanks for the healthy posting
General reply to a few things here..
I live in Reading, work in London so typically do not want to have a bulky item delivered to work to drag home through the commuter hour!
Also, I`m not blaming drivers here.
Currently I have an outstanding packing with a [EMAIL="DHL@Home"]DHL@Home[/EMAIL] person. I like this idea, although unfortunately my representative has been totally un-contactable so far on the phone number they supplied. (currently on delivery attempt 2 of 3!).
But kudos to DHL for doing something different.. and this is my point.. maybe other delivery firms could also try something different.
If the [EMAIL="DHL@Home"]DHL@Home[/EMAIL] system was more of a pick-up service - ie. "Collect your person from this local person between 8pm-9pm" then I wouldnt care if they didnt even attempt a single delivery, although this might upset their neighbours! Maybe these firms could begin using local Pubs for collections (like the old days?).
Any delivery drivers reading who could comment on how many "failed" deliveries they attempt on their rounds? Maybe its just me!0
