As per my previous post, I was sure that this deal expired yesterday.

it seems they have renewed the offer as it was definately on 3 for £10 in local Tesco today (or £8.99 a bottle). Shelf label had been changed to specify a new end date for the offer - think it said the 13th but not certain on that, sorry.

I picked up 6 today and it is in the clear straight sided bottle like you say. Maybe the picture they used on my upermarket was just a stock picture they had available

Went back after work for another 9 bottles :j

With the amount of wine I've got in the flat now (or have planned to pick up over the next couple of weeks) I shouldn't need to do another wine shop until the summer... unless similar deals come up in the meantime of course!

Its very similar to Oyster Bay Sauvignon Blanc.
I can just about tell the difference but husband can't
I managed to order 12 bottles on line and use a £10 off £50 voucher bringing the bottle price down to £2.34 (a third of Oyster Bay price)

IMHO there's quite a big difference - no offence. Oyster Bay I'd happily pay the £8.99 asking price for - it's delicious. Ocean's Edge isn't in the same league and I certainly wouldn't pay full price for it. I managed to pick up 6 x Oyster Bay in the Sainsbury's deal last weekend - 1/3 off asking price, plus 25% off all wine purchases of 6 bottles or more, which made it £4.49 a bottle.

The only lowish-priced Marlborough SB that I find even tastier than Oyster Bay is Southbank, available from Majestic or Asda. RRP's about £7.49 I think, but last Christmas both Asda and Majestic had it on offer at £5. Asda have it for £6 at the moment.

You should never pay full price for wine at a supermarket. They rotate the special offers and therefore have to inflate the prices when they are not on offer so that they can offer half price etc. It is just like DFS never buy a full price sofa.

Agreed, having spent 6 months in New Zealand we got hooked on their Sav B. Oyster Bay is one of our favorite affordable ones, and the one in this offer is just not the same. As per someone a couple of replies ago, we simply wait for deals which allow you to get Oyster Bay or Montana for around £4.50-5.00 a bottle good quality ones dont get much cheaper.

I understand too that there was a massive glut in the 2008 crop, and that there's a lot more substandard NZ SB around than usual.

mattwallisuk - I haven't tried Montana, so thanks for that. It is the ordinary Montana or the Montana Reserve that I should try particularly? Both are currently available on decent offers - the Reserve is down to £5.95 at Tesco and the ordinary one for is 3 for £15 at Asda. If Tesco comes up with a 25%-off week before the offer expires I might fill my boots...
