I followed the instructions and moved it to the chest. For the next 10 minutes it kept alerting me and wouldn't let me click anything so i'm guessing I have a problem with Avast and virus free? The code was Win32 elf-MZG [Trj] if it's any help.

Latest update (from yesterday) for avast is causing a lot files to be flagged with Win32 Delf-MZG, seems to be a widespread problem, and is happening to me. I have disabled the resident shield until avast roll out an update, I'll do a full scan afterwards.

    What's a resident shield?.....

Sorry, I mean "standard shield", right click the avast system tray icon and in the menu there is "pause provider" and "stop provider" sub menus click on those to disable the standard shield. You can also left click to bring a dialogue box up, to stop or start the shields.

Standard shield is always on and scans files when you open or run them.

If you google "Win32 Delf-MZG" there's a lot of reports of false positives including the avast forums.

There was an virus database update this morning from avast which seems to have fixed things (running a scan now, but it's already cleared files that were reporting viruses last night).

So is it safe to check my bank account online seeing as it's a false reading?

Its 'probably' fine. But if you want a couple of checks first ~

Download MALWAREBYTES (Make sure you click 'DOWNLOAD LATEST VERSION')
    http://www.filehippo.com/download_malwarebytes_anti_malware/
Open malwarebytes and goto UPDATE and click 'check for updates'. After its updated goto SCANNER and click PERFORM FULL SCAN then click SCAN
Post the log COMPLETE here AFTER youve deleted everything it finds

    reboot

Download HIJACK THIS (Make sure you click 'DOWNLOAD LATEST VERSION')
    http://www.filehippo.com/download_hijackthis/
Click DO A SCAN AND SAVE A LOGFILE (Takes seconds) then post the log so we can see whats running
(do NOT do anything else with Hijack but scan and post the FULL log)
