I am Due to sign on the 8th dec.But I start my new job on the 8th Thank god.
Do I phone them before hand and tell them I cant sign on ? or do fill in the booklet and post it to them.
am I entitled to any money like from the last time I signed on, was the 24th Nov to when I sign off?
I have heard I can claim £100 if you start work ? I have been on jsa since feb this year, and if so How do i claim this.
Any info will be much appropriated.
Also Iam claim Housing benefit and full council Tax also I will inform them too. Is there a 4 weeks run on.Or do I have to pay full HB and CT then day i stop claiming ?
Thank you.

As long as you have been continually on JSA for 6 months continuous (not 1 day off for medical reasons etc) then you are eligible for £100 plus 4 weeks HB and CTAX run on. You 'should' get these things automatically, but good idea to chase them up and make sure you do. Well done getting employment. :beer:0 -
Thank you for the info..0

Yes what you could also do is to notify your employer about them being entitled to £1000 if they keep you on with them for a period of 6+ months0

The job grant is automatic but you must return your ES40 signing book within 1 week confirming where and when you have started work.Nothing to see here :beer:0

From personally experience I would hand in your booklet to someone to make sure they get it and you get your final payment.
My signing on day and 1st day at work was the same day, they didnt tell me I had to still sign on and sign off at the same time to get my money, she just took my book and I had to chase them for my final payment.0 -
Thank you everyone for your help and advice.
This might sound strange, but it's bugging me! As My starting date is tomorrow so I know I cant sign on, and I did not inform the jobcentre that I cant sign on, as today has been stressed abit, was waiting for a call from new employer so everything is ok thank god,so tomorrow thats means I have missed my signing on day and I know if you miss a signing you have to inform them within 5 working days but I will send in the booklet tomorrow by post and I hope they recieve it within 5 days,So will this mean by missing my signing on day it may affect whats due to me when I sign off tomorrow.
If I lose the Money then its just hard luck I suppose. But i am thankful I have a job at last after 9 months on jsa and claiming jsa is stressful enough.
Good Luck to everyone
I just have to make do with 10p until til I get the final payment from jsa.
I could not claim any fares because the job arrived too late for me to do anything.0 -
Hmm...is there no way to lend money off family or friends? I'm not sure how you can survive on 10p for a month until you get your first month's salary. Maybe apply for a crisis loan?
As for the book, why didn't you hand the book in today in person? I know you were stressed but now you could be out of 2 weeks JSA payment and not to mention the job grant (£100-£250). This helped me out a lot when I signed off. I was in a similar predicament with the book issue but I handed it in after work just before 5pm (I had to rush back to my local JCP and injured my feet doing so!)

Thanks for the input TsimehC Yeah I will have to Rush to the jobcentre before 5pm if not then I wont have time during the week to get there. Will have to post it otherwise,If I do lose the money then thats sod's Law I guess, any job is better than signing on.Thankfully the wages are paid every 2 weeks in the month so I wil have to ask Family to lend me some.sorry about your foot!!
At least at christmas I'll be better off and thats what keeps me going.I dont know whats more stressful signing on or signing off, both in a way.signing on have no money signing off still have no money. I'm just ranting in a few weeks time I'll be fine. Thanks again.0 -
Well Things have turned in my favour, I dont start my new Job until Thursday Now this week, have an induction to go too, so I was able to sign on and just make the last signing on day today wheew. So I have my final payment this friday. I will sign off Thursday and post the book to them in the post.
I asked at the jobcentre how to sign off and she gave me a number to call, but I think I will send in the booklet because it has a signature to sign.Maybe I will be able to claim this 100 pound grant now !!
Thanks again for all your help and advice.0 -
Yeah you should get job grant, also ask for ADF Payment (Adviser Discretionary Fund) this is where (like job grant) they will pay for clothes etc you buy for you new job, Job Grant is more for assistance with an Interview than new job, it seems alot of JCP don't know about ADF so they may say it doesn't exist but tell them that someone who works for JCP told you about it (i work for JCP)11K Challenge
