Acer D250 or Acer 531

I am thinking of buying a netbook for around £200 and would like advice on what is likely to be the better value machine.

Tesco do an Acer D250 at £199 or
Currys do an Acer 531 at £219

I only intend to use indoors for using the internet and am not a techie person.

Any advice would be much appreciated - would consider other alternatives but cannot really go beyond £220.

Many thanks.

Netbooks mostly have very similar specifications although some now have the slower U2250 processor rather that the pretty much standard N270/N280. The real differentiators are the battery, build quality (which would include trackpad and keyboard), and the screen itself which may be a personal preference (glossy v matt).

Of the two you've selected the D250 has a 3 cell battery and the 531 a 6 cell but this is worth checking in the actual ad you will be buying from as one sneaky way of offering an apparent bargain is by selling the netbook with a lower capacity battery than the standard model.

I have seen a number of complaints about Acer build quality but not on those specific models.

It really pays to actually see and if possible try out any laptop/netbook before buying so if you can do that do so. You may spot a different one that you like at the same time then you can checkout the specs and prices online.
