Savings For A Big Balance?!

Hi
My folks are about to sell their house and downsize, which will leave them with about £65k that they want to save to live off as they 'wind down' in terms of work.
They want to put this somewhere fairly simple, with instant access, but obviously not totally waste the interest-earning potential.
Obviously they'll syphon off what they can to go into ISAs. I'm also trying to encourage them to shuffle bits of it around into regular saver accounts and so on, but I think they may decide it's too much hassle if they have to keep changing account every year / 2 years etc.
Especially because I've noticed that a lot of linked-accounts for these regular savers (like A&L) pay decent interest on balances up to a few grand, and then rubbish interest on balances over and above that.
Does anyone know of a good savings account for larger balances? I'm usually a DFW regular, so this ready cash malarkey is all new to me!
Oh, and add to that that the old dear is a bit of a luddite and convinced internet banking will make her money disappear into the ether... so any earth-based accounts would be particuarly welcome!
Thanks
