What washing-powder does she use? A biological powder might help.
The ability of skinny old ladies to carry huge loads is phenomenal. An ant can carry one hundred times its own weight, but there is no known limit to the lifting power of the average tiny eighty-year-old Spanish peasant grandmother.

Persil biological tablets are the current ones - same problem though.

Slightly off post, which deodorant has she tried?

Has she tried Mitchum, or Triple Dry which you put on every third day at night?

If these don't work, has she been to see her GP, there are medicated deodorants that are available on prescription or, if these don't work she could be referred to a NHS dermatologist (ie proper doctor) for treatment which will stop any perspiration for several months at a time.

Could try sprinkling bicarbonate of soda onto the armpits of the tops, leaving overnight, and then washing. Might need to try temp higher than 40 degrees if the tops can stand that.

On the prevention side, making sure she shaves under the arms daily helps a lot - each hair gives a huge amount of surface area for bugs to collect, even when they're short.

As Jays mentions, any anti-perspirant like Mitchum, containing aluminium chloride, is more effective, and botox injections are available if it really becomes a problem.

can't offer any help with the clothes, but a friend of mine has the same problem and she has botox injections to resolve it. I agree with other posters, she shold visit her GP asap.

    Hi woj101,

We have a recent thread on the same subject so I have merged yours with it as it helps Old Style readers to find all the suggestions together. As always posts are listed in date order so you'll need to read from the beginning to see all the replies.

Would an overnight soak in Nappisan work, I wonder? That does get rid of other biological whiffs:rotfl:

Not very old style but I bought some ozclean stain remover, spray on to pretreat stains before washing, it has a lavender odor neutralising thing in it so this might work. I think it cost £1.80 from home bargains (trigger spray)

Anyone got any pongy shoes or trainers. I stuff mine with newspaper sprinkled with essential oils (e.g. tea tree, lemon, eucalyptus) The newspaper keeps their shape and the oils make them smell nice.
