0844 numbers are the new 0870 for many companies (when revenue sharing on 0870 was banned, they moved to 0844 - BSkyB is the best example - to ensure they kept their cut of the cost of every call).

You will not get 'free' (inclusive) 0844 calls with Post Office.
Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. Hence, I have now deleted links to my previous 'pearls of wisdom'. I sincerely hope they helped save some of you money.
  • i get
inclusive evening and weekend calls - to UK landlines and 0845/0870 numbers

just this lot is on 2 differant days 1 in Oct and the other Nov 5calls each day 2-5 mins apart, i can not recall what i would be ringing that number for, been getting 0800 numbers and other strange calls ringing up but i dont answer, have call display, am hoping iam not getting charged when they get my answering machine and hang up when they relise it?

You cant reverse the cost of a call in mid conversation.;)

0844 numbers are often described as multi media services on phone tariff,s

Do you know who the 0844 number belongs to? Who is your landline provider.
