Scam calls from Nigeria?

Today my boyfriend got 3 calls from a number in Nigeria (+2348030555843) to his 02 mobile. Google shows the code 234 to be from Nigeria and the man on the other end had a nigerian accent. I have googled the whole number and come up with nothing.
The first time it rang and he didnt get to it in time. The second time he picked up this man said that he had something important to discuss with him and that he should call him back My boyfriend asked who he was and he replied saying that he was from Nigeria and repeated that he should call him back, then he hung up.
The third time he called, he apologised for hanging up, and said that he had low credit and this was why he should call him back. He then said that he didnt want anything from my boyfriend, and that he and his family were very poor and that he'd been praying his whole life for something to happen and that last night he had a dream and.. (wait for it) .. my boyfriends phone number was in his dream :rotfl:
He said that when he woke up he thought he'd try his luck and call the number. He said that he was amazed that he got through to someone and due to this he said they should be friends.
I can only think that this is a scam but i'm surprised that no one appears to have come across this number before. We've checked his phone bill and he doesnt appear to have paid for the calls he received.
