I put a deposit on a car last Friday and received a written invoice stating amount the car cost less deposit and part exchange - due to collect on Sunday and pay balance but they rang today to say admin error the car had been advertised at £5995 when should be £6995 - owner said I could have for £6500 when I said I would take advice as I thought we had a legally binding contract he said he can choose who to sell to as his business and he would re-advertise and send me my deposit back - can he do this - the car is already re-advertised at higher price within one hour of our phone call

You have a legally binding contract. You are entitled to the car at the agreed price.
You will be entitled to sue for any loss arising from the breach in contract.
e.g. Buy a similar car from another dealer and if the price is higher, sue for the difference.0 -
If He takes it off sale and and states its not for sale he can resell it. I am not on his side its just that i had a business before and went to a business course and thats one of the subjects that came up when we discussed selling an item if it was wrongly priced, Sorry
please find out CAB or trading standards i hope i am wrong for your sake.
The solving of a problem lies in finding the solvers.0 -

Correct, this case sounds like a contract was concluded hence the OP has a case to enforce the court, or sue through the small claims court for compensation - possibly including loss of a bargain.
The only get out would be if somewere it was agreed no contract would be formed until delivery.0 -
balloo, you can take something off sale and resell it at a higher price as long as it hasn't been sold already! In this case the contract to sell has been made at an agreed price and money has exchanged hands. I shouldn't think there's any going back now. If seller refuses to sell, OP can buy similar elsewhere and sue for the difference at small claims court, and it won't cost him hardly anything to do it too.0
