0844 international call problem

I usually use Telediscount 0844 number to call Germany landlines for 0.5 p per minute.
However over the last 2 days I can connect to the german number but the other end cannot hear me. I can hear them.
Ive tried from my mobile and same result. So ive established its not my phone, its not my phone line, and its not the german phone as we have called another relative and experienced the same problem. We have alsoe established that its not that specifc 0844 number - just gone through 7 other 0844 numbers and getting th same result.
Ive racked my brains, can anyone confirm they are getting the same issue? Or anyone got any ideas on how to solve it?
Thanks
JF

If you have inclusive landline/mobile minutes you should be able to call a German Landline via these peoples http://www.callsdiscount.com/uk/index.htm UK 020 Geographical Access Number at no cost for the call..0

Is there a catch to this? On the basis that there is no such thing as a free meal how can they use a geo number which is not revenue sharing so surely get no income.utilitybroker wrote: »If you have inclusive landline/mobile minutes you should be able to call a German Landline via these peoples http://www.callsdiscount.com/uk/index.htm UK 020 Geographical Access Number at no cost for the call..
Reason for asking is I notice they also include Spain for 0p which interests me.0 -
This website is great! Thank you . It's an 0203 number which works fine! And it's free on my inclusive minutes. But I'm also unsure how they make there money from this.0

Yes, we often face this problem of muted phone lines while making abroad calls using various 0844 numbers. I have no idea why this happens though. The only thing that comes to my mind is that perhaps BT is playing some trick so that they can earn some money by taking all the connection charges.
Earlier today we tried some 12 different numbers to call overseas and all had the same problem. These unsuccessful calls connection charges would at least come to a £1-00 if not more. This I will know in a day or two when the call details start appearing on the my BT account's online page.
If anyone knows what might be going wrong please share it with us.

I'd suggest you use one of the prefix companies instead (1899, 18185 or 18866). One or another is usually amongst the cheapest for most countries and the call failure rate is remarkably low.Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. Hence, I have now deleted links to my previous 'pearls of wisdom'. I sincerely hope they helped save some of you money.0 -
Heinz,
Thanks for the suggestion. I am going to explore those providers as 0844 access is still causing problems from a BT landline.
