Hi,
I have a packard bell desktop running Vista Premium that I am having problems with. The system kept Freezing" - I am a bit of a novice and a friend advised me to back up all my files etc and do a system restore. I did this and the computer was working fine. I left it up and running overnigt and windows downloaded service pack3 - I installed the upgrade and now the problems start!
It gets as far as installing part 3 of 3, then stops, turns itself back on starts installing part 3 of 3 then stops turns itself back on and the cycle starts all over again. I am aware that the pc may turn itself on and off a few times when upgrading but it did this continually for over 6 hours and would not start up at all!
I then tried to boot up from the boot disk and selected last good configuration and it loads from the restore point created by the system restore and the chuffin cycle starts all over again!!!!! AGGGH
Can any one help????:eek::eek:

http://news.softpedia.com/news/Get-Vista-Out-of-the-Infinite-Reboot-Loop-Configuring-Updates-Stage-3-of-3-0-with-Vista-SP1-78933.shtml
If you are stuck watching the "Configuring Updates Stage 3 of 3 0% complete Do not turn off Computer" and in the endless reboot loop, then stop the cycle and boot from the Vista media. You will need to "Repair your computer," so select your Vista installation and restore it to a point before the deployment of the updates. After gaining back access to your operating system, you will have to install the service stack update, namely Update for Windows Vista (KB937287). Deploy this update before any other on your Vista, and only then install the rest. At this point in time, you should experience no more problems.
"Update 937287 is a prerequisite package that contains updates to the Windows Vista installation software. The installation software is the component that handles the installation and the removal of software updates, language packs, optional Windows features, and service packs. Update 937287 is necessary to successfully install and to remove Windows Vista SP1 on all versions of Windows Vista," Microsoft revealed.Ex forum ambassador

SP3 for Vista???0

I thought Vista was only on SP2 at the moment. I know XP SP3 caused this kind of problem with AMD processor based machines. Try the above posters ideas and then keep every one postedSP3 for Vista???New PV club member. 3.99kW system. Solar Edge with 14 x 285W JA Solar panels. 55° West from south and 35° pitch.0 -
Hi,
tried downloading Update for Windows Vista (KB937287) but a pop pup popped up to state that this download was not necessary for my system. Any other suggestions for a technofile???0
