You cannot have it both ways. If you wish to limit your jobseeking as a result of your health condition, you need to be honest. If you are not, it is likely that your claim will be sanctioned.

    Worse than that

ok i'm with you. So basically, its not ok to just look for a part time job, without a good reason why you cant work full time. So i would need to tell them.

Thanks guys, I really appreciate the help.

unless you declare your illness you will be expected to be looking for full time work, and allowances can be made until you are fit and well enough to take up full time employment, and please dont go by others as the problems occurr when the full story is not known.
"Unfortunately I have seen the way the jobcentre has handled many situations and that makes me even less assured that I want them getting involved (however lightly) in my personal business." and have you actually seen the way things have been handled or just heard what peole have said.
you are not treated as an ill person but as somenone who has valuable skills and can contribute. you dont have to see a disability adviser but you will see a personal adviser who will discuss the hours you are available for work, the areas in which you need to look for work, the type of work and the steps required to get back into work and a written agreement is made up which you both sign, therefor it is imperative you speak to them about any health problems/issues/appointments as this can be taken into account when making up this agreement because if you dont follow the agreement you may loose your righ to benefit- we are not there to judge but to support

Can you not work in a supermarket?

Many will offer various shift patterns, inc evening shifts say 5-9 pm which would avoid most appointments, but still get you in permanent, almost full time employment if you worked a later shift in the week and then one full day at the weekend.
