Where can i find details of my Accelerated Graphic card ( if i have one)on my PC.
I have 4 year old Packard bell and is going well.
i want to know because i want to download some software and it strongly recommends that i have a accelerated Graphics card. If i don't have one, can i buy one or upgrade,( is it a physical thing, or a bit of software). Which is a good make and where do you get them from.
thanks.

Display properties should tell you. The 'settings' pane should say '<some kind of monitor> on <some kind of graphics card>'.
I don't think it's possible to buy a PC today without a 3D card, but some are vastly more powerful than others. Let us know what kind you have.0 -
You can open the side panel of your pc unit and see if it's in the AGP slot.
You can also check device manager under hardware and see the cards name then google it for it's details.0 -

Thanks for the help,
i have a SiS 650 (64MB) Video adapter
and a
3D Accelerater SiS 315 Integrated
is this good. The SiS650 gets a bad press for people who play games, so not sure if it is ok for what i want.
i should of said that the software is for making Picture slideshows to burn to disc, ( ProShow Gold).
I didn't want to buy it then find out it wouldn't work because my PC is too old/Slow etc..
do you think i am ok with what i have, or do i need something better. Not ashamed to say ABBA are Great :j0 -
Just download the Free Trial first http://www.photodex.com/downloads/trials.html0

But of-course, why didn't i think of that....
i shall give it a go tonight,
just one thing, one of the programmes i ran told me that six of my drivers could be updated, but i have to register first then pay $25 to upgrade, is this worth it, or should i leave well alone, as everything seems to be working well on my PC.Not ashamed to say ABBA are Great :j0 -

Dont worry about the upgrades as in buying them, but what you could do is visit the manufacturers website of what needs upgrading then do some looking on support pages and most likely get them free anyway, but if all is ok why bother, i.e, if it aint broke dont bother fixing it.

Yeah, the SiS chip is an antique in computer years, but appears to have similar specs to a Geforce 2 MX, which wasn't too bad for its time. It's certainly worth giving the software demo a try, I suspect you'll be OK.0
