Antimony is used in many different contexts in industry, including some medicines, lead-free solders, bullets, batteries, plumbing, and matches. It has been used in a naturally occurring form for thousands of years, primarily as a medicine, as small amounts can kill certain parasites without compromising the health of the recipient. Antimony in a compound form also has impressive flame-retarding properties, and as a result is used to treat such things as seat covers, toys, and children’s clothing.

    Just thought I'd post this

Thanks for that was actually wondering why they would put a chemical in2 a toy but didn't wanna ask didn't wanna sound silly
  • i wish people would stop over-reacting! i have studied a lot of these chemicals (i'm a scientist dontcha know!:p) do you have any idea how many squiggles you'd have to eat to have a n effect!...being near him will do nothing! they went looking for "problems" with the most popular toy because it would cause the most controversy...notice it isn't never heard of toys?!
    children wetting the bed?

    electric blanket...they'll soon learn ;)

This is the latest report on these toys.
Consumer watchdogs tested the £10 electronic pet for dangerous chemicals and found traces of antimony, which is similar to arsenic, beyond permitted levels
Think i will stay well away now. dont want to take any chances.

Bet you'll still eat things that have been grown in the ground though;):p:D

I think the reports you have read escortg3 are the ones by goodguide which they have admitted are not along government guidelines for testing of antimony. :) Best to wait for official testing which sounds like might have been done as previous posters have said about ITV xxx
Please remember to thank fellow MSE'rs

I agree, just silly. I mean I get why people over react because it's their kids but if they were as dangerous as they say they would have to re call them

KILLER HAMSTERS - BAD PARENTS ARE BUYING LETHAL KILLER HAMSTERS FOR THEIR KIDS FOR XMAS!!!!!!!!!!

    I love it!!!
  • Have had another look on the goodguide website to see what other toys they say contain dangerous levels of antimony in particular(according to their test). The list include stuff from Leapfrog, Transformers, Brats, Fisher Price, Playskool, Sesame street, Disney high school musical... with worse health scores than the hamsters. Hmmm
