Very true, I had to accept it as I know what Argos are like and we could have been waiting weeks for redelivery and needed the cot asap

But also true he was young and fit and could have easily done it had he been nicer (I've had minicab drivers bring my shopping upstairs for me recently without even asking them..bet they wouldn't sue their company!)

I think that it would be worth a letter or email to Head Office just to alert them to the problem... at the very least, the driver's behaviour was discourteous.

Yes, i will do so, but doubt it will amuont to much, these things rarely do.

We had a sofa delivered from habitat a couple of years ago and on the way in they managed to smash our lightshade, and damage the fitting (we paid £60 to get it fixed..beside the cost of the shade!)
and also they knocked off one of the legs and claimed it screwed back in, but it didn't , they had torn apart the wood it should screw into, so we had a £800 sofa sitting with one leg on a couple of bricks (it's still like that)

All i got was a cut and paste apology letter and a £20 voucher..

chalky berte - yes i know not accepting delivery would mean they wouldn't get the item!!! gee!!!!

'just inside the door' - what use is just inside the door of a block of flats?? you cant leave it there till u get help it will get nicked (theives are remarkably more dedicated to the delivery/collection aspect of their vocation and are often seen to break into a sweat unlike this delivery chap!) . As you say these items are 'heavy and bulky' which is WHY we get them DELIVERED in the first place! if it was light as a feather and small we wouldn't need delivery would we! if you are saying a delivery man shouldn't have to carry anything then they are just van drivers not delivery men. if a company considers delivery to be take it off the lorry and dump it at the door then they shouldn't charge so much or make such a big deal that they offer home delivery. argos says home delivery which in my opinion means to your HOME not to the communal door of lots of homes.

They want to make money by selling bulky items and they offer free 'home delivery' but they dont mean it they dont want to pay/insure someone to actually deliver it so i can understand a delivery guy sticking to his job spec as he probably doesn't consider himself (and probably isn't) paid enough for all that effort, but this is a pregnant woman asking for help, so whether or not he failed in his job is irrelevant - he failed as a decent person and that is that.
