Help please!

I've done the budget planner but things look very dismal. Can't break even at the end of month. Already defaulted on credit cards and store cards but despite explaining things to them, have constant letters and calls.

Bank slamming me with Overdraft costs, and calls from them just sending me into panic. No money in bank account at moment, have paid housebills up to date, half tank of petrol for rest of month, £7.27 on my mobile. and £47.73 in my purse for rest of month, till pay day on 30th June.

I've no other income due into bank, they have informed me that I'm £57.00 over my limit and have incurred charges, if the accoumnt is not within limit by friday, I'll incurr further charges. Current charges for month are £105.00.

Don't now which way to turn, and burying my head seems the easiest option.

    Hello Welshkitty and welcome !!!

Firstly, you need to post your SOA (statement of account) and some of the experts will be along soon to let you know the areas where you could cut back.

Also, ring CCCS or payplan and they will help you negotiate with your creditors and take away the hassle. Both of these are charities and offer free help. I rang CCCS on Monday, and have a telephone appointment with a debt adviser in 2 weeks. They are really lovely to talk to and will hopefully be able to help you.

    Hope this helps.

Have a look at this thread for a guide for an SOA WK! :)

As for the bank charges we can explain how you can start claiming this back once you've got your SOA sorted! :D

Are you entitled to any benefits? Check this website to see.

Sorry I'm a bit confused by you paying school dinner money (so I assume your daughter lives with you) but then you have to pay maintenance!

How many people does that £180 a month have to feed?

Have you shopped around for gas and electricity? Check out the utility boards for more advice there! :)

    Kitty,

Give CCCS a call on 0800 138 1111. You just explain your circumstances, then they make you an hour long telephone appointment to go through everything with you. Hopefully the will be able to set you up with a debt management plan.

The dinner money and maintenance confused me too SS, I assume you have more that 1 child Kitty?

  • It a bit confusing - my children spend 50% time with me and 50% with their Dad. His property is recognised as their home, as it was the marital home. Even though child benefit is paid to my name - it goes into his account.

My solicitor is dealing with it at present. I am not entitled to any benefits until its sorted.

When children with him they have school transport, but I have to drive to and from the 2 schools. Recently both come to me from school for tea and then take them to their dad when he comes home from work, but I have had no let up in payments to him. I also provide the sandwich box for my son when he's with me,

The money for food pays for me and the children, when they're here.

All confusing but hopefully will get sorted on that front soon.

Your ex gets the child benefit, £198 from you each month but you feed the kids when they stay with you and provide tea 5 days a week when they stay with their dad?

If the maintenance is being taken by the CSA could he pay you some (all) of that back until its sorted out officially?
  • The maintenance is being taken by CSA, and he is not happy with the amount I currently pay.

We have not got a good relationship post break up so any negotiating with him is out of the window.

I have been a bit of a walk over, and am trying to change my ways and be more assertive.

A new form has gone to CSA last friday as they requested, and highlighted the amount of time The children spend with me.

I have phone the css and have a phone appt on Thursday 29th June. So help and guidance on its way.

Well I hope the CSA see more in your favour seeing as though you are providing 2 of their 3 meals a day, 5 days a week.

Well done for phoning the CCCS! Things will get much better. Did they suggest that you only send token payments to your creditors or anything?
