natwest platinum ccard - mona and groan

in Credit cards
took out a natwest platinum 0% for 9 months back in march this year
wanted to make payment as easily as possible,
i knew if i had sent a cheque it would take 7/10 days to clear and hit my account.
cant pay with debit cards, unless 'switch'
the past month has been a bit difficult, (car problems), so i knew we where going to be near the limit.
sent an interim payment of £500 on 31st may using online banking.
this reached the natwest card account on 5th june,
continued using card, whilst waiting for statement. on monday 12th, i used the card to pay for my breakdown recovery,
about an hour later, received a call from the breakdown company, saying that the payment had been rejected by my credit card supplier.
i logged in and checked on line, the available credit limit was £620, which allowing for some outstanding payments, there would have been enough to cover the breakdown cover (£80 for 2 cars)
phoned bank, balance was the same as the online banking figure,
so i spoke to an advisor, who said....... balance was £60.......
how come i said, I paid £500 thru online banking and this has been credited to the account on 5th june.
did you pay from a natwest bank account? they said
no?
thats why, they said, all payments from non natwest accounts (whether online or cheque payments) are held back for a further 7 days...... meaning that the £500 i had paid in, although it showed as cleared from my initial acocunt and on the credit card online statement, didnt actually clear until 13th June.........
the credit card reason was, to make sure that the payment wasnt recalled by my bank......... why would it if it I had made the payment online....... nnnnnnh
to add to this, the statement was late, i have since 2 more payments, taken taking the amount paid to £1800+, but due to their stupid system, they wont clear in the account until 23rd/25th june, just before the next statement is due.....
also as i didnt have a long history with them, until the account had been running for 6 months, they would keep doing this.
not enough history...... i have banked with them for 20 years..........

Hi Rob,
Like the tag line!
There is a lot of fraud around people paying off cards, running up the balance and then the payment being recalled because it is fraudulent too.
Suggest you set up a direct debit for the minimum at least to avoid late payment problems again.
R.Smile, it makes people wonder what you have been up to.
