Hi any advice please on this laptop found earlier today at HotdealsUK. Seems Comet are reducing this laptop online tomorrow from £499 to £379 looks quite good spec for the money. Do you think this is a good deal??

£499 seems overpriced for the spec, basically the usual sales trick to overprice a product then drop it so it looks like your saving alot more, than what it is actually worth.

However £379 seems a good price for it though.

You can use quidco to get another 3% discount

It's a decent enough laptop but don't get carried away thinking it's a fantastic saving, they've just been charging too much for it just now !

If you compare it to a similar Acer, this one for example which has a similar spec but has 4GB ram and a smaller hard drive this is already at £399.

I don't think the Samsung looks very nice either but that's just my opinion !

Think about what you will be using it for and buy the best laptop for that.

Thanx I agree it does looks similar spec but the Acer doesn't have Windows 7 installed on it. Won't it just be another hassle getting it upgraded? - think I might prefer looking for one that has Windows7.

The Samsung is ok. geewhiz isn't suggesting that you don't buy it, more indicating that it was never worth £499. £379 is ok.

Samsung is better, but.....Comet. Hope you don't have any aftersales issues.

I agree, Comet are a pain in the backside.

Upgrading from Vista can cost upto £27.80 (Toshiba) for the 'free' upgrade. I would personally be looking at a Windows 7 machine unless the offer is not to be missed.
