If you have relatively new peripherals, then just go for a cheap pc unit box, you could probably find one in pc world clearance section (without the add-one ie monitor, keyboard etc), alternatively you can buy a relatively cheap "package" now at the low-end spec of the market which should suffice for internet useage only, this would avoid any compatability issues.

You could always look into local pc stores who make low spec bundles up, sorry but without knowing your budget cant advise further... OH and Tesco/Aldi etc do some nice intro bundles at resonable prices.

    Does that include monitor etc?

TBH, I think £250-300 is about average for what you are looking for, unless - you get one made probably cost you about £150.

You could try a refurbished one from Dell Outlet, or PC World.

Tesco Direct start around £275 for a package.

Is a laptop or netbook not an option...assuming you only want it for surfing??

Could always get a new phone at Carphone Warehouse and give him the "free" laptop!!!
  • You could get one like this which works out about £212 incl. VAT & Delivery... Should suffice for your dad's needs.

Closer to £250 for the base system with DVD writer. The base system that you indicate doesn't include a DVD writer.

To bring it up to the same spec as the Fujitsu units above would cost £340.
