Quote for loft conversion

Hi,

Has anyone else had a loft conversion done recently?

We have been quoted £42000 for a loft conversion, this includes 3 dormer windows, we will end up with 2 new bedrooms, measuring 14 foot by 11 foot and 11 foot by 11 foot, and a bathroom in the middle.
The quote is for all work, including fitting the bathroom, but we will have to decorate and carpet it afterwards.

We had 3 quotes and all were fairly similar, but we don't know anyone who has ever had one done personally to get an idea of costs from.

Would be grateful for your opinions. Thank you

If all the quotes were pretty similar, then I'd say that is actually the ballpark figure.

All loft conversions are different. If, for example you have a trussed roof, the structural work will be far greater than if not.

Still might be worth getting a couple more quotes though........;):D

We had a loft conversion done, in London, for about £40K but it was much smaller than yours, we have mid terrace house, but included laminated flooring and decoration. Think it will depend on the area you are in. Maybe also get a price a bit out of your area in case companies are getting together to level prices.

It is a truss roof, we've done some more research and the price seems fair. We've got a couple of previous lofts of theirs to go and look at, but I think we'll be going with that quote.
