thanks for the advise so far, its been good to have some help with this.

I've got a question though. My tenancy agreement is with the ltd company, and i have checked companies house and the person i have always dealt with as my landlord is no longer listed as a director of the company. would he still have the authority to block the release of my bond from the letting agency now that he is no longer listed as a director of the company that my rental agreement is with?

Who knows without knowing the exact status of the individual and the company. (eg if they are still an employee then they may have this authority or they may be the company secretary). Again this will also depend on the exact wording of the LA - LL agreement.

The best advice for you is to not worry about any of this - it really does not concern you. If the agent refuses to return the deposit siting LL instruction (as they may well do in such a case) then just go and get a court order (against the Ltd company) and it will be released.
  • People have taken successful legal action against all three of agent, individual-landlord & Ltd-co-landlord for return of deposit.

If you contract was with ltd-co then go after ltd-co and/or agent..

    Good luck!

My current landlord phoned me this morning, i missed the call so called him straight back. 'I've been trying to get hold of you for 2 weeks' i said, 'busy man' says he!

apparently he recieved the letter rom the agency this morning, and was calling them all the names under the sun lol. He said that he has sent a letter to the agency requesting that my bond be released, and he emailed me a copy of that letter. i have orwarded a copy of the letter to the agency and made them aware of the conversation i had with the landlord. apparently they will release the bond as soon as they recieve his letter in the post. hopeully that will be monday :)
